Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) David Myers serves as the Deputy Commander and Deputy District Engineer for the Baltimore District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Prior to his assignment at USACE, LTC Myers was the Assistant Professor of Military Science at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. LTC Myers came to USACE in 2020 and took command of the 71st Detachment, Forward Engineer Support Team -Advance. He assumed responsibility as deputy commander in September 2020.
LTC Myers graduated from the University of Georgia in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He completed the Engineer Officer Basic Course from the Army Engineer School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, the same year. When he returned to Fort Leonard Wood in 2008, he completed the Engineer Captains Career Course (ECCC) and his master’s degree in Public Administration from Webster University in Missouri. In 2016, he graduated from Command General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Upon completion of ECCC, he was assigned to the 92nd Engineer Battalion, Alpha Company, Fort Stewart. He deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, where he served as a vertical platoon leader. He returned to Iraq for his second deployment as the Executive Officer for Bravo Company. In 2013, he took command of the 70th Geospatial Company, Schofield Barracks, and deployed Soldiers all over the world, notably Operation Tomodachi and Operation New Dawn. After Command, LTC Myers was assigned as the 45th Sustainment Brigade Engineer and deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, for operation Enduring Freedom. After his deployment, he moved to Seoul, South Korea, and was assigned as the Eighth Army Engineer Planner. Following this assignment, he completed Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. He was then assigned to Fort Benning, Georgia, as the 3rd Infantry Division, 3rd Brigade Armor Brigade Combat Team as their Brigade Engineer. His next assignment was with 5th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, where he was the S3 and Executive Officer from 2016 to 2019.
LTC Myers’ awards and decorations include two Bronze Stars, three Meritorious Service Medals, one Joint Army Commendation Medal, three Army Commendation medals, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Parachutist Badge, and the Army Engineer Association’s Bronze de Fleury Medal.
LTC Myers is a native of Savannah, Georgia. He is married to Air Force LTC Nena Myers. They have a daughter and son who are both in elementary school.
