Published Jan. 31, 2013

TIOGA, Pa. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes invites the public to attend a quarterly open house on Monday, February 11, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ives Run Visitor Information Center.

At the peak of the winter recreation season the Corps will be reviewing current and upcoming seasonal activities, programs, and facility schedules.  The main part of the Ives Run Recreation Area and the old Railroad Grade along Crooked Creek were closed for the winter to save costs and for safety concerns.  There will also be additional changes to the operations at the Ives Run Recreation Area Campground this year with expansion of the use of Park Host throughout the camping season.

Of special interest at this meeting will be the introduction of the Corps Regulatory staff that will be working out of their newly created Tioga Regulatory Office located in the Ives Run Recreation Area, Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes Project Office Building.

In addition, Mr. Eric Miller, Chief, Public Lands Habitat Section, Bureau of Wildlife Habitat Management, Pennsylvania Game Commission will also be present to explain some of their current and future special management programs on Corps lands around the lakes.

For further information on the open house, please contact the Corps at 570-835-5281, or stop by our visitor information center in the Ives Run Recreation Area.
