The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Jennings Randolph Lake, in partnership with the Maryland and West Virginia Department of Natural Resource Police, Mineral County Parks and Recreation Commission, Potomac State College and the Friends of JRL, will host their second annual Water Safety Festival July 11 from 12 pm to 3 pm at the Shaw Beach Recreation area.

This year’s water safety festival features several free activities to educate visitors of all ages about the importance of water safety. Activities include boat and water safety demonstrations from the Maryland and West Virginia Department of Natural Resources, “Dunk-a-Ranger” tanks, paddle boats on the lake, a chance to win a life jacket and much more.

"Last year we had great success with the first annual Water Safety Festival and this year we are excited to expand the activities and sponsors,” said Bill Donnellan, park ranger. “The goal behind the event is to promote water safety and encourage everyone who is in or around the water to wear a life jacket at all times especially during the height of the recreation season.  Remember a life jacket doesn't work if you do not wear it."
