Raystown Lake seeks volunteers to construct, place fish structures

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Raystown Lake is seeking energized volunteers to help with construction and placement of aquatic habitat structures during fish structure building days, April 28-29 from 8 a.m. to noon at Snyder’s Run Boat Launch, located off Snyder’s Run Road, approximately 10 minutes from Huntingdon.

Fish structure building days offer a great opportunity for sportsmen’s organizations, civic clubs or individual volunteers to demonstrate their commitment to the fisheries of Raystown Lake. The Corps and the Friends of Raystown Lake will provide volunteers with necessary vehicle access, parking and light refreshments. 

The placement of artificial habitat structures such as porcupine junior cribs, black bass nesting structures and vertical plank structures, can help stimulate growth in aquatic ecosystems.

This is the 27th year volunteers have helped the Corps and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission build and place artificial aquatic habitat structures in Raystown Lake.
