After years of research, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is using a new and innovative tool, known as Metal Mapper, to capture a better picture of metals below the ground to determine if the metal is a munition that needs to be removed. The Metal Mapper is currently being used at Camp Edwards Army National Guard Training Site located on Joint Base Cape Cod, Mass., which hopes to see a reduction in digs by up to 70% resulting in a large cost savings.
