RAYSTOWN LAKE, Pennsylvania— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) at Raystown Lake will open select access roads to accommodate various upcoming hunting seasons.
The following gates will be open from Oct. 13 – Dec. 9, 2017:
- Hawn Road (Gate 1 - end of Hawn’s Bridge Road)
- Susquehannock Campground Road (Gate 8 - off Bakers Hollow Road)
- Upper Corners Road (Gate 13 - off Upper Corners Road)
- Fink Road (Gate 27 – off John Bum Road)
- High Germany Road (Gate 28 - Nancy’s Camp Service Road, off Old Plank Road)
- Miller Farm Road (Gate 35 - end of Weaver Falls Road)
There is no off-season maintenance on these roadways; vehicle operators will be traveling at their own risk. The Corps may close or choose not to open these gated roads based on a number of factors including inclement weather, road conditions, or other special activities.
Autumn is also a time of year when many other visitors frequent the woods including trail hikers, mountain bikers and nature observers. Outdoor recreational users may also use the open roads listed above for vehicle access. The Allegrippis Trails System will be closed for the whitetail deer rifle season; Nov. 27 – Dec. 9, 2017.
Hunters may only use portable hunting stands or blinds. Stands and/or blinds must not be placed more than two weeks before the start of any deer season and must all be completely removed within two weeks of the official close of the final deer season, as defined by the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC). Any stand or blind that is not removed at the end of the final season or that causes damages to government property is subject to enforcement, in addition to removal and impoundment.
In addition, all tree stands and portable hunting blinds on Corps property must be conspicuously marked with a durable and legible identification tag that includes the owner’s first and last name and legal home address, or in the alternative, bears the customer identification number (CID) appearing on the owner’s hunting license, in accordance with PGC regulations.
The Corps urges hunters to be aware of surroundings and always positively identify targets.

All Corps’ property at Raystown Lake that is open to public hunting is enrolled in the PGC’s Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP). DMAP Unit 2831 includes all Corps-owned land to the west of the lake, covering a total of 14,496 acres. DMAP Unit 2832 includes all Corps-owned land to the east of the lake, covering a total of 5,144 acres.
