Unforgotten: Veterans honor Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Centenni
U.S. Army Veteran Trina Littlejohn, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, Washington Aqueduct administrative officer, dons her Operation Desert Storm combat medical armband at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., Oct. 22, 2021. USACE’s former service members commemorated the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Centennial during a Veteran’s Day tribute. The Tomb stands atop a hill overlooking Washington, D.C. Since 1921, it has provided a final resting place for one of America’s unidentified World War I service members, and Unknowns from later wars were added in 1958 and 1984. The Tomb also serves as a place of mourning and a site for reflection on military service. (U.S. Army photo by Greg Nash)
