Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Kuhlmann serves as the Deputy Commander and Deputy District Engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District.
Lt. Col. Kuhlmann is originally from Arlington, Texas, and was commissioned in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1994 from the United States Military Academy.
Before arriving at Baltimore District, Lt. Col. Kuhlmann spent three years as the Deputy Brigade Commander of the 555th Engineer Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. He returned from Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan in June 2016 where he spent four months as the Combined-Joint Engineer for Train Advise Assist Command-South.
Lt. Col. Kuhlmann’s operational assignments include Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer in the 8th Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Ft. Hood, Texas; Company Commander in the 44th Engineer Battalion, Camp Howze, South Korea; Assistant Brigade Operations Officer, 3rd Brigade, 91st Division (Training Support), Travis Air Force Base, California; Commander National Police Military Transition Team, Balad, Iraq; Battalion Executive Officer, Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Ft. Carson, Colorado; and the Executive Officer to the Deputy Commanding General (Support), U.S. Division-North, Iraq.
Lt. Col. Kuhlmann spent three years stationed in Italy (2012-2015) working as both the Engineer Operations, Synchronization, and Targeting Officer and the Assistant J3, Land Warfare Officer at NATO HQ’s, Naples, Italy.
In addition to these operational assignments, Lt. Col. Kuhlmann has served as an Instructor, Analyst and Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the U.S. Military Academy and as the Special Projects Officer for the U.S. Garrison Command, Ft. Carson, Colorado.
Lt. Col. Kuhlmann holds a Master of Science in Operations Research from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace) from the U.S. Military Academy. His military education includes Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Army Command and General Staff College, and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School (Resident - Norfolk, Virginia).
His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Bronze de Fleury Medal. He has also earned the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
Lt. Col. Kuhlmann is married to the former Carla Weiss. They are the proud parents of five children.
