A 430-foot section of the Fort McHenry seawall is now straight and strengthened thanks to a Corps of Engineers project. Daily tidal pounding, severe storms that flooded the area and the mid-Atlantic region weather extremes cracked some granite slabs, moved them out of position and degraded the seawall. The Baltimore District issued a contract to pour and smooth cement mortar between and under the slabs and to reposition the seawall to make it straight.
