Ultraviolet light kills microbes as the final step in the process to produce potable water from the updated Fort Detrick water treatment plant in Frederick, Md. The plant went online in April as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, is finishing the final actions on the $16.8 million project to provide water to the garrison.
