Newest Army Corps survey vessel performs maiden rescue in Chesapeake Bay
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers crew of Survey Vessel CATLETT combined classic maritime skills and state-of-the-art technology to pinpoint the location of a boater in distress during a rescue operation Thursday April 5, 2018 in the Chesapeake Bay. The CATLETT’s was conducting a routine condition survey of the Tolchester Channel when she responded to a mayday call, rescuing a boater in a disabled vessel and bringing him back to the Corps of Engineers’ facility at Fort McHenry where local emergency medical services assisted him further.
