Raystown to host 10th Annual Chalk the Walk

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Raystown Lake is hosting the 10th Annual “Chalk the Walk” at Seven Points Beach Aug. 14, 2022. This beloved sidewalk chalk art contest is intended to bring art into the community while spreading messages about water safety.

Participants of all ages have the opportunity to compete for prizes donated by local businesses. There is no entry fee for the competition.

Registration begins at 11 a.m., and entries can be drawn anytime between then and 6 p.m. Winners will be contacted following judging, which concludes at 7 p.m. Artists need not be present to win.

Prizes will be awarded to first and second place winners in each of the following four age categories: ages 6-8, 9-12, 13-17, and 18 and older. Additionally, a prize will be awarded to the fan favorite, which all visitors will have the opportunity to vote for between 2 and 5 p.m.

Chalk and basic art supplies will be provided upon approval from contest organizers, but artists may also supply their own materials. For a full list of contest rules, call park ranger Jenna Conner at 814- 658-6811.
