TIOGA, Pa. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, will temporarily close the Lambs Creek Recreation Area for hunting, in conjunction with upcoming Mansfield University cross country races. Access to the Lambs Creek Boat Launch will remain open. The closure will be effective on the following dates:

October 8 Ed Winrow Memorial Invitational: The event will feature 10 teams and 200 runners from schools around central Pennsylvania. It will serve as a preview for the PSAC and NCAA Atlantic Regional events.

November 5 PSAC Championships: The event will bring all 18 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference schools to Tioga County. Approximately 300 men and women student-athletes will participate.

November 19 NCAA Atlantic Regional: More than 24 teams are expected from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virgina and North Carolina with nearly 300 men and women expected to compete for berths at the NCAA National Championships.
Posted signage will be at the entrances of Lambs Creek Recreation Area and Old Lambs Creek during the closures. Lambs Creek Hike & Bike Trail will remain open; however, users may experience delays during the races.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) will be stocking pheasants in the area per the normal stocking schedule. For more information about pheasant hunting, contact the PGC hunting resources by visiting www.pgc.pa.gov or by contacting the Northcentral Regional Office by phone at 570-398-4744.
