RAYSTOWN LAKE, Pa. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, in coordination with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), will close Tatman Run Recreation Area to clear way for the finalization of a stream bank repair and bridge project by the entrance to the park on Route 994. The closure is effective Tuesday, Sep. 3, 2024, with restored access to Tatman Run Boat Launch estimated to be in October 2024.
The closure will allow PennDOT time to deconstruct a temporary road and bridge that has been used to bypass the area where the bridge project has been taking place over the Summer Recreation Season. After deconstruction of the temporary road and bridge PennDOT will pave the impacted area of Tatman Run Drive and upon full project completion the traffic pattern will be returned to what it was pre Spring of 2024.
The temporary closure is not expected to have impacts to recreation outside of Tatman Run. This closure will mark the end of the season for Tatman Run swim beach, and parking areas for the playground and shelter until the normal opening in Spring 2025.
For more information on the closure, contact Park Ranger Scott Graham by email at scott.t.graham@usace.army.mil or by phone at 814-658-6808.
