  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, announces Spillway Maintenance Project at the Cowanesque Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, which oversees operations of the Cowanesque Lake Project, located in Tioga County, Penn. and lies on the Cowanesque River near Lawrenceville, Penn. is set to begin a construction project to enhance the spillway infrastructure at Cowanesque Dam. The spillway is a feature of the dam that was constructed in the late 1970s as an emergency overflow discharge for the lake, which runs approximately 1,200 linear feet. Since its construction, the spillway has never seen flow.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has announced that the construction project at the Snyder’s Run Boat Launch has extended the closure of the Snyder’s Run Boat Launch until Saturday, October 19th, 2024.

  • Coast Guard, Army Corps of Engineers, community partner to find way forward for Neabsco Creek

    The Coast Guard and Army Corps of Engineers met April 26 with staff from federal and state congressional offices, local marina owners and the Prince William County Board of Supervisors to discuss the future of Neabsco Creek, following navigational concerns. The meeting was part of an on-going effort amongst federal, state, and community partners to address the safety, commercial and recreational interests in Neabsco Creek.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Raystown Lake will open select access roads to accommodate various upcoming hunting seasons. Unannounced closures of gated roads are possible due to weather, road conditions or special activities such as logging operations.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Raystown Lake plans to conduct a drawdown of Raystown Lake beginning October 15 for scheduled maintenance repairs. The actual start and end dates of the drawdown could change pending weather and lake conditions.
