    Baltimore District welcomes its 67th commander

    Col. Edward P. Chamberlayne became the 67th commander of the Baltimore District, during a traditional military change of command ceremony Friday at Fort McHenry. He assumed command from Col. J. Richard Jordan III who has commanded the Baltimore District for the past three years. Chamberlayne, a native of Alexandria, Virginia, will now command the Corps district that includes his hometown.

    Baltimore District and partners began constructing oyster reefs in the Tred Avon River, April 30, 2015, just as restoration on 370 acres wraps up in Harris Creek.     GIS – much more than maps

    The handy technology used to create the colorful maps that lead you to view the tigers at the zoo or let you know how much snow you will receive during the next winter storm, also serves as a critical aspect in performing jobs and communicating more effectively with stakeholders. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District applies this same cutting-edge technology for a variety of initiatives, such as mapping stormwater infrastructure and runoff into the Chesapeake Bay, delineating floodplains and wetlands, and displaying the projects that fall within its various mission-area boundaries.

    The Corps is continuing in the process of revising its policies relating to eligibility criteria for levee and coastal projects within its P.L. 84-99 RIP, and we are requesting stakeholder input. The Corps has published an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) in the Federal Register, entitled "Emergency Employment of Army and Other Resources, Natural Disaster Procedures," to help obtain public input on the policy concepts being considered. Comments must be received on or before April 14, 2015.
