The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, announces the opening of Gate 28 on High Germany Road (Nancy's Camp Service Road) at Raystown Lake to begin Saturday, April 23, through Tuesday, May 31, for spring turkey season.

USACE reserves the right to temporarily close this gated road depending on weather, road conditions, or other special activities. There is no off-season maintenance on this roadway; vehicle operators will be traveling at their own risk. Other outdoor recreational users, such as nature observers, mountain bikers and hikers, may also use the open road for vehicle access during this period. USACE reminds hunters to be aware of their surroundings and always positively identify targets before shooting.

USACE also wants to remind hunters that only portable hunting stands or blinds may be used. They should not be placed more than two weeks before the start of the season and must be removed within two weeks after the close of the season, as defined by the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC). Any stand or blind that is not removed at the end of the season or that is responsible for damage to government property is subject to enforcement, in addition to removal and impoundment.

Tree stands and portable hunting blinds left on USACE property must be marked to identify the owner according to PGC regulations. Stands and blinds must be evidently marked with a durable and legible identification tag that includes the owner's first and last name and legal home address. Alternatively, mark the CID number appearing on the owner's hunting license.

All PGC and USACE regulations apply. For more information on Raystown Lake's natural resource management, visit our Natural Resource Management page or call (814) 658-6809.
