Army Corps announces temporary Snyder's Run Boat Launch Area closure

USACE, Baltimore District
Published April 15, 2025

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, will temporarily close Snyder’s Run Boat Launch and the road leading to the top of the Raystown Dam from April 21st, 2025 – April 25th, 2025 to complete road surface repairs and paving work in these recreation areas.

USACE will complete road surface repairs and repaving on the parking lot and launch approach at Snyder’s Run, following concrete work that was completed on the boat ramp in the fall of 2024. Additionally, concurrent road repaving will be completed on the Raystown Dam roadway leading to the pagoda overlook on the top of the dam.

The temporary closure is not expected to have an impact to recreation areas outside of Snyder’s Run and the Raystown Dam. During the closure, visitors who would otherwise use Snyder’s Run should use another public boat launch to access the lake. Visitors wishing to view the Raystown Dam are encouraged to use Ridenour and Hawn’s Overlook.

For more information on the closure, contact Park Ranger Scott Graham by email at scott.t.graham@usace.army.mil or by phone at 814-658-6808.
