Two vessels belonging to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, will be participating in the Star-Spangled Spectacular festivities, taking place throughout the Baltimore area September 10-16.

The event will feature more than 30 naval vessels and tall ships from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Norway, Germany, Spain and Turkey. The ships arrive on September 10 and depart on September 16, and each will incorporate public visitation hours daily.

Baltimore District volunteers will also be hosting an information table directly outside the two vessels that will provide the public with information on the Corps’ contributions to the Port of Baltimore and the Chesapeake Bay, along with water safety information.

Maryland Environmental Services will join the Corps on Sept. 15-16 with information on dredging and Poplar Island Restoration.

Other landside festival events include living history demonstrations, a family fun zone, live musical performances, and Chesapeake food and beverage.

Events crescendo on September 13 with two star-studded patriotic concerts and extraordinary fireworks display over Fort McHenry and the Baltimore harbor, which will broadcast live on PBS’ Great Performances.

Based upon the success and lessons learned from Star-Spangled Sailabration, Star-Spangled Spectacular promises to attract more than one million visitors.
