Army Corps and Maryland Port Administration to hold virtual public meeting on Seagirt Loop Channel Deepening

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District (USACE), in coordination with the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration (MDOT MPA), is holding a public meeting Feb. 24 from 6 – 8 p.m. to provide information on the Seagirt Loop Channel Deepening Feasibility Study draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (EA) and to solicit input.

Army Corps, State to host public meeting on Ocean City Inlet projects

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District (USACE), in coordination with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Worcester County, is hosting a hybrid public meeting Aug. 17, 2021, at the Worcester County Library – Berlin Branch at 13 Harrison Ave., from 7 – 8:30 p.m. This public meeting provides an opportunity to discuss two concurrent efforts: a navigation improvement project to address sediment accumulation in the Ocean City Inlet and a study on the scour hole near Homer Gudelsky Park.

Army Corps to host Virtual Public Meeting on Wicomico River Maintenance Dredging, Placement Site

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, is hosting a virtual public meeting April 14 from 6 – 8 p.m. to provide information and solicit input on the upcoming Wicomico River maintenance dredging and placement site location at the Deal Island Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Poplar Island Ecosystem Restoration Expansion Complete, Open to accept Dredge Material

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, completed construction of the Poplar Island Ecosystem Restoration Project lateral expansion Jan. 20, 2021, providing 575 additional acres, including four new wetland cells and one large upland cell. The project is now able to accept dredged material associated with the approach channels to the Port of Baltimore until around 2032.

Army Corps, MDOT MPA initiate study to improve channel for container ships calling at Seagirt

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, and the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration (MDOT MPA) are launching a study to determine ways to address marine navigation at the Seagirt Loop channel in Baltimore Harbor, with goals of improving capacity, safety and efficiency at the Seagirt Marine Terminal within the Port of Baltimore.

Army Corps to repair stilling basin at Foster J. Sayers Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, will begin a $3.2 million effort to repair the stilling basin at Foster J. Sayers Dam in the coming weeks. The dam is currently operational, and this work is preventative maintenance to ensure that it can continue to provide flood risk management to downstream communities for years to come.
