  • Army Corps announces Tioga-Hammond and Cowanesque Lakes closures and updates

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, will close Ives Run Campground, the Ives Run camp store and the South Shore concessionaire from Oct. 31, 2020 to May 1, 2021, in conjunction with the end of the 2020 recreation season. Additionally, the Lambs Creek Recreation Area boat launch is closed until further notice due to low lake surface water elevations resulting from a lack in precipitation.
  • Army Corps announces temporary closure of Shy Beaver Boat Launch

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, will temporarily close the Shy Beaver boat launch area beginning Friday, Oct. 9, to install a new public restroom. The boat launch area is scheduled to reopen Friday, Oct. 16.
  • Army Corps, MDOT MPA initiate study to improve channel for container ships calling at Seagirt

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, and the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration (MDOT MPA) are launching a study to determine ways to address marine navigation at the Seagirt Loop channel in Baltimore Harbor, with goals of improving capacity, safety and efficiency at the Seagirt Marine Terminal within the Port of Baltimore.
  • Army Corps announces installation of Jennings Randolph Lake Downstream Early Warning System

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has installed a year-round early warning system at Jennings Randolph Lake intended to notify downstream public users of impending rapid increases in water levels, and to evacuate the river immediately to higher ground for their safety.
