Corbin’s Island is a quite area set amongst mature oaks that offers the only downstream access to the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River.  The Raystown Branch meanders 4.5 miles from Corbin’s Island to the Point Access (located at the junction with the main Juniata River).  Raystown maintains a minimum lake outflow which means the Raystown Branch remains floatable throughout the summer.  This makes Corbin’s Island an ideal location to launch short float trips by canoe, kayak, tube or small boat.

Location: 1/2 mile downstream of the dam
Directions:  From Rt. 22 eastbound at Huntingdon.  Just east of the Giant Food Store turn right onto Point Road.  Continue on Point Road (staying left) approximately 6.3 miles.  The Corbin’s Island access will be on your left.

Keep an eye peeled skyward.  Bald Eagles are often seen hunting along the river near Corbin’s Island.

Parking Space Designations:  One (1) trailer parking space is designated for handicap parking only.

Shallow Water:  The ramp launches into only 2-4 feet of water.  The Raystown Branch remains relatively shallow and accessible only by shallow draft vessels.

Flooding: Because Corbin’s Island is only 1/2 mile from Raystown Dam this area is prone to flooding.  A siren alerts visitors to spillway operations and visitors should be prepared for changes in current and water level.
