NY Crappie Derby conducted every winter (weather-permitting) since 1974 by the Whitney Point Sportsmen's Association draws hundreds of anglers and spectators onto the ice. The event features entertainment, a consession stand and prizes for contestants of all ages.

Swimming

Dorchester Park has white sand beaches, certified lifeguards and changing areas.

The USA Triathlon began in 2006 and features competition for individuals and three-person teams. The race is suitable for veteran and first time triathletes. It begins with a half mile swim in Whitney Point Lake, continues with a twelve mile bike ride on Rt 26 and concludes with a 5K cross-country run.
