New Boston Space Force Station Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan Environmental Assessment

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore District and New Boston Space Force Station (NBSFS) has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) pursuant to the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA).

The Draft EA was prepared to evaluate the potential for environmental impacts of implementing the updated 2021 Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) at NBSFS, located in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. The INRMP was written as a guide to manage NBSFS’s natural resources.

The 2021 INRMP establishes natural resources management goals and objectives for the entirety of NBSFS that are consistent with the installation mission. It ensures no net loss in the capability of NBSFS lands to support that mission and that natural resources conservation and other mission activities are integrated and consistent with Federal mandates for land stewardship.

About New Boston Space Force Station

New Boston Space Force Station is located in Hillsborough County of south central New Hampshire. It was transferred from the U.S. Air Force to the U.S. Space Force in the summer of 2020. It was originally established in 1942 as a practice area for bombers and fighter planes from nearby Grenier Army Air Field (now Manchester–Boston Regional Airport). Starting in 1959, it was turned into a satellite-tracking station, providing the facilities most prominent feature, the weatherproof radomes which dot the hillside.

New Boston SFS is operated by the 23rd Space Operations Squadron, a geographically-separated unit of Space Delta 6, part of Space Base Delta 1 at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado.
