Army Corps to host Virtual Public Meeting on Wicomico River Maintenance Dredging, Placement Site

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, is hosting a virtual public meeting April 14 from 6 – 8 p.m. to provide information and solicit input on the upcoming Wicomico River maintenance dredging and placement site location at the Deal Island Wildlife Management Area (WMA). Army Corps of Engineers awards contract to replace floodwall near Penn Street

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, awarded a contract March 5, 2021, to Mohawk Valley Materials, Inc., a woman-owned small business (WOSB) based out of Rome, New York, for approximately $3.23 million to replace the floodwall adjacent to Penn Street. This floodwall is part of USACE's Codorus Creek flood risk management project.

Public Comment Period Opens for SM-1A Draft Environmental Assessment and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact

Poplar Island Ecosystem Restoration Expansion Complete, Open to accept Dredge Material

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, completed construction of the Poplar Island Ecosystem Restoration Project lateral expansion Jan. 20, 2021, providing 575 additional acres, including four new wetland cells and one large upland cell. The project is now able to accept dredged material associated with the approach channels to the Port of Baltimore until around 2032.
