Army Corps, Baltimore District to receive more than $68 million in President’s proposed fiscal 2020 budget

The President’s proposed fiscal 2020 Civil Works Budget released March 12 includes $4.827 billion in gross discretionary funding for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works program, including funding for the following Baltimore District projects: $17.3 million in Poplar Island expansion construction; $4 million for dredging of the Wicomico River; $20.4 million for dredging of Maryland and Virginia harbors and channels; and more than $28 million for operation and maintenance of flood risk management projects across Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia

Anacostia Watershed Restoration project plan in Prince George’s County gets green light from Army Corps

Semonite, chief of engineers and commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has signed the Chief’s Report for the Anacostia Watershed Restoration study in Prince George’s County that recommends restoring 7 miles of instream habitat, opening 4 miles for fish passage and connecting 14 miles of stream to previously restored stream reaches.

Baltimore District receives more than $13 million in additional funding for navigation, environmental restoration, flood risk management missions in Chesapeake Bay region

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, received more than $13 million in additional funding in the 2019 Work Plan to continue various critical missions in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, including Mid-Bay Island design, the Chesapeake Bay Comprehensive Plan, Fishing Creek jetty repairs, Ocean City Inlet dredging, and operation and maintenance activities at dams to include construction of a new water treatment plant at Raystown Lake.
