Public Notices Overview

A Public Notice is prepared as the primary method of advising all interested parties of a proposed activity for which a permit is sought and of soliciting comments and information necessary to evaluate the probable beneficial and detrimental impacts on the public interest.  Public notices are only prepared for projects determined to exceed minimal individual or cumulative adverse environmental effects and that may be contrary to the public interest.

  • 20180312 - Indian Rock Dam/Codorus Creek FRM project (York, Pennsylvania)

    Expiration date: 4/30/2018

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, is proposing to undertake major repairs to the Codorus Creek Flood Risk Management (FRM) component of the overall Indian Rock Dam/Codorus Creek FRM Project on Codorus Creek. The project's infrastructure is aging and in need of major repairs to ensure it continues to properly perform its FRM functions. At this time, rehabilitation of floodwall, levee, drainage structures, and bank protective works is anticipated. USACE Baltimore is preparing an environmental assessment (EA) for the proposed repairs in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended. The current schedule calls for the draft EA to be publicly released in summer 2018.

  • Notice of Availability: Draft Finding of No Significant Impact and Environmental Assessment for Rhodes Point Navigation Improvement Project, CAP Section 107

    All Interested Parties: In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, as amended, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for improving navigation at Rhodes Point in Somerset County, Maryland. This project is being conducted under Section 107 of River and Harbor Act of 1960, as amended. This notice supersedes USACE Operations Division notice, CENAB-OP-NN-17-02, issued May 4, 2017.   • PN 16-60 Comment Period for Renovo Natural Gas Powered Power Plant, Clinton County, Pennsylvania

    Expiration date: 12/3/2016

    CENAB-OPR-P-2016-01006-P05: Renovo Energy Center LLC proposes to develop a two-unit, gas-fired power plant with expected net output of approximately 950 megawatts. The power plant will be located in Renovo Borough, Pennsylvania, several hundred yards north of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. The applicant is proposing to complete compensatory mitigation for the project by enhancing 5,825 linear feet of Kettle Creek. POC: Marion Gall at 814-235-1761, marion.gall@usace.army.mil.

    2016-61278-M07 MDE, Nontidal Wetlands and Waterways 201661278/16-NT-0297/AI153609 MD DNR CASE NUMBER FCA S14-07 - 11/2/2016: The purpose of PN16-59 is to announce the extension of the MTA/Purple Line public notice comment period until Dec. 2, 2016. DESCRIPTION: MTA proposes to construct a 16.2-mile light-rail transit line, known as the Purple Line, from Bethesda Metro Station in Montgomery County to New Carrollton Station in Prince George’s County, Maryland.   • Special PN #16-47

    The purpose of this special public notice is to inform the general public of the Baltimore District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) decision to reinstate the suspended 2012 Nationwide Permit #48 (NWP #48) with revised regional conditions for new and existing commercial shellfish aquaculture activities in Maryland tidal waters. NWP #48 will replace the expiring Regional General Permit-1 (RGP-1) for commercial aquaculture activities. An enclosure to this public notice (Enclosure 1) lists the revised regional conditions applicable to NWP #48 activities in Maryland waters. The reinstated 2012 NWP #48 with revised regional conditions will become effective in Maryland waters on August 16, 2016.
