PSA – Army Corps adds cautionary buoys to warn boaters of construction zone near Poplar Island

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, is urging boaters in the Chesapeake Bay to steer clear of ongoing construction activities and submerged rocks marked by cautionary buoys near Poplar Island during the fourth of July weekend’s expected increase in boating activities.

Corps of Engineers receives millions in additional funding for flood risk management, navigation, restoration missions in Chesapeake Bay

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has received additional funding to dredge the Ocean City Inlet, reduce flood risk in New York, expand Poplar Island and begin design work at Mid-Bay Island. This funding is through the 2018 Work Plan for the Army Civil Works Program, which is Congressionally-authorized funding specifically for the Corps in addition to funding outlined in the 2018 Administration’s Budget.

Baltimore District provides funding outlook for projects

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, has announced the list of projects that will receive funding this fiscal year, as outlined in the fiscal 2017 work plan for the Army Civil Works program released May 24. Baltimore District is also sharing the projects included in the fiscal 2018 President’s Budget for Civil Works released May 23.

Administration’s fiscal 2017 budget calls for $109.3 million for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District’s Civil Works program

The president’s budget for fiscal 2017 (FY 2017) includes roughly $109.3 million in gross discretionary funding for the Civil Works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District. This funding allows Baltimore District to continue to maintain and improve water resources infrastructure, bringing economic and environmental returns to the Nation, while reducing risks to public safety.
