OVERLOOKS AT RAYSTOWN LAKE

Raystown Lake

There are two areas for scenic viewing located at Raystown Dam.  The Pagoda located on top of the Dam offers lake views while the spillway area located below the dam offers a great vantage point to view spillway releases, and wildlife that frequent downstream habitat.

Directions:  From Rt. 22 eastbound at Huntingdon.  Just east of the Giant Food Store turn right onto Point Road.  Continue on Point Road (staying left) approximately 6.5 miles.  The road will end at Raystown Dam.

Ridenour Overlook

Ridenour Overlook was the first park at Raystown and offered spectators a location to view construction of the Dam.  Today, visitors can see spectacular views of Raystown Dam and the lake. (closed in winter)

Directions:  From Rt. 22 eastbound at Huntingdon.  Just east of the Giant Food Store turn right onto Point Road.  Continue on Point Road one mile.  Turn right onto Henderson Hollow Road towards Ridenour Overlook (signed).  Continue 2.5 miles.  The overlook area will be on the left (signed).

Hawn's Overlook

A short walk through the woods leads to this jaw-dropping view.  Hawn’s Overlook has won numerous awards for its scenic views of Raystown Lake and surrounding mountains.  Sunsets are must-see from this spot!  (closed in winter)

Directions:  Follow the directions to Ridenour Overlook.  Hawn’s Overlook is a short 300 ft. walk from the same parking area.

Coffee Run & Rt. 994 Bridges

Wave to passing boaters as you enjoy the lake view from these PennDOT managed scenic pull-offs.  These areas are also a great place to watch summer holiday firework displays.

Directions:  Both areas are located off Rt. 994, approximately 2.5 miles east of Rt. 26.  Pull-offs are adjacent to each bridge crossing Raystown Lake.  Parking along the highway shoulder is dangerous - please use the parking lots provided.
