Public Notices Overview

A Public Notice is prepared as the primary method of advising all interested parties of a proposed activity for which a permit is sought and of soliciting comments and information necessary to evaluate the probable beneficial and detrimental impacts on the public interest.  Public notices are only prepared for projects determined to exceed minimal individual or cumulative adverse environmental effects and that may be contrary to the public interest.

Comments made in reference to a Public Notice should include your name, address, and phone number. Please be sure to include the Public Notice Number or the Application Number on all correspondence to the District.

  • PN 21-33 NAB-2021-60426 (DRG MD UMBI & Lake Elkhorn Mitigation Bank)

    Expiration date: 9/1/2021

    Comment Period: August 2, 2021 to September 1, 2021. Project Description: To establish an Umbrella Compensatory Mitigation Bank to generate mitigation credits to offset unavoidable impacts to waters of the U.S./waters of the State of Maryland.   • PN 21-32 NAB-2020-60836 (Simpkins, Kirk/ Bulkhead and Pier)

    Expiration date: 8/26/2021

    Comment period: July 27, 2021 to August 26, 2021. Construct an 8’ x 30’ pier with a 8’ by 50’ platform to extend no more than 47 feet channelward of the approximate mean high water (MHW) shoreline; to construct a 215-foot long by 8-foot wide bulkhead, to extend no more than 8 feet channelward of the approximate MHW shoreline. The work is proposed in accordance with the enclosed plans.

  • OPN 408-NAB-2020-0017 Millers Run Phase 2 - Greenway Trail

    Expiration date: 8/13/2021

    Comment Period: July 14, 2021 - August 13, 2021 Construction of a recreational trail to include a ramp to the top of the existing levee along Millers Run. Fill will be placed on the dry side of the levee to bring the trail up to the top of the levee. Once on top of the levee, topsoil will be removed, and the trail will be built up from that elevation.

  • PN-21-31 NAB-2021-60654-M30 (St. Mary's County DPW&T/Myrtle Point/Living Shoreline)

    Expiration date: 8/3/2021

    Comment Period: July 13, 2021 to August 3, 2021. Description: Stabilize approximately 1,450 liner feet of shoreline and enhance existing marsh by creating three 40-74-foot wide by 130-205-foot long headland structures to extend no more than 110 feet channelward of the approximate mean high water (MHW) shoreline, to place approximately 195 cubic yards of clean sand fill and 65 cubic yards of cobble for the creation of cobble beach habitat extend approximately 10 feet channelward of the MHW shoreline, to place approximately 856 cubic yards of clean sand fill for the creation and enhancement of dune habitat, and to remove and enhance approximately 1.9 acres of phragmites with various high and low marsh plantings.
